Motivation in managerial practice

Motivation in managerial practice can be divided into two areas. Motivation of workers who are led by the manager and motivation of the manager herself.

Motivation is a mental process that leads to energization, it drives and controls our behavior when we are trying to achieve a goal. Motivations are a set of all the factors that make us either act or not act – joy, sadness, curiosity, positive feelings, etc. Each person’s motivation is different and it comes from her inner needs. A good manager should know her workers well enough to identify these needs and satisfy them hence motivating the worker.
