Company culture

Company culture consists of several areas. It is the way that employees treat each other. It is the atmosphere that’s present in the company. It is the values and visions that are key to the company and all the employees share them. It is the style of leadership practiced by the managers.

Company culture is specific to every company. In order to compare different company cultures, we use the IKO questionnaire. IKO evaluates 4 areas – roles, power, performance and people.

Roles – hierarchy

The importance of roles lies in the clarity of distribution of competences and responsibilities. Overvaluation of a role means that managers don’t discuss matters with their subordinates who in turn don’t have enough space for their development.

Power – system

System is an important tool for processes. Its overvaluation means that people are spending a lot of time and energy by filling data into the system and it thus becomes a burden instead of an efficient development tool.

Performance – task

The importance of a task lies in the fact, that it is what feeds the company. Its overvaluation means that the company is narrowly focused on performance and less focused on employee development.

People – development

The importance of development is in the qualitative growth of employees and their performance. If it is overvaluated employees are too focused on development and making of company stars who get their support and there isn’t much room for performance.
